A chronological survey of the developments of Western architecture from the beginning of time to the period of Enlightenment, with consideration of the intellectual, aesthetic, technological, political and economic factors which have influenced the design of buildings. These issues are explored with reference to major contemporary examples and the work and philosophy of significant exponents.
Learning Outcome
Through this project I was able to recognize and recall appropriate verbal architectural vocabulary when referring to building types, styles and periods. I also loearnt to exemplify, classify and compare the sequence of historical periods and how they are represented architecturally. Besides that, I learnt to differentiate the ways in which many varied factors contribute to the development of form. By doing the presentation board, I learnt to document intentions, concepts, patterns, disciplines, architectural language and contextual relationships.
Building the model also gave me a bigger in-depth on the Pantheon as I was able to explore the details of Roman Architecture in a more detailed manner. I learnt how to shape and curve joined to form a beautiufl structure too.
